I looked into the woods, Searching for the light, I walked into the trees, Once had come the night. Stepped between the trees, Looked upon a cottage, Fell unto my knees, “Sir!” screamed I, “I bid thee please, Help me rise, Up off my knees!” “Help me know, Why the water flows, Help me see, How the tree grows!” “Let me hear The wolf howl, Let me watch The cat prowl!” The small door opened, And out stepped a man, He took a deep breath, And then he began. “My child,” Said he, “Do not cry, I shall tell you why The fish swim, And the birds fly.” A smile came to his face, Brightened by his eyes, “Get up of your knees, Now then, child, rise.” I stood up, My knees still weak, I looked at him, A tear on my cheek. “Come now, child, Wipe your tears, Let us see, What appears.” Deep into the woods walked us, Seeing sights to see, And for the first time ever, We both felt free. ~*Trust who is to be trusted, love who is to loved.*~ |
