Sleep dear child...fear not the dreams of day. Fear not the shadows cast the earth, go out my child....go out and play. For sleep clutches his arm, a mind now docile and kind...Though the morrow again points his path, fear not my child, his sight now blind. His labors weary his soul, his thoughts burden his heart. His smile cloaks an evil thought....He walks the daylight dark. Sleep well my child, of innocent eyes, of cheeks dimpled and red. Of smiles that bring a tear to eyes, that listen from fear and dread. The pasture green does hold the flock though close the wolf, his den. Fear not for now my darling child, through vigilance ... We win. Yea though we walk the path of green, of roses red in bloom...Our eyes shall see what is not seen...beyond the windowed room. |

I've not heard a lullaby in a long, long time...you make me homesick, and reflective of what it was to be a child without fears beyond closet monsters and the deep end of the pool. Even the flow of the lines reminds me of arms encircling, wrapping a favorite blanket around shoulders at bedtime. Thank you for tucking us in and leaving the nightlight on. And this is how we shall choose to live, vigilant, aware, alert, but not afraid. I really enjoyed this -- it carries a beautiful rhythm, rather like a psalm. Susan Happiness isn't something that happens to you, it's created from within you. Joy is a state of mind. |

This sounded like a lullaby, and so well written...but sung silently, of course, so as not to scare that little one half to death! Now, I see where you got that nickname...the Poe of PIPtalk. ......jo |

All of that, and you ask for total faith, to fear not. Big order... but a solid person beside the child will see them through. Well done! |
