Underneath a Quiet Smile Give me a flower on a sunny day And watch me pluck the petals, one by one Until they cry to the ground While my hypercritic self smiles; The shameless snicker of my shadow, Blocks the light from true intentions As my quiet charm devours innocence and beauty. Give me sorrow on a balmy day And watch cruelty kiss my soul With passionate and joyous infliction, Until sweet agony repays me many favors In tears that bond me to the ground’s return, Searching for the fallen flower petals of my past--- But in reality, fair is fair in selfish love, Because flowers do not blossom in darkness And a man’s heart is free only in death. I hope for myself, I will not be born again where shadows fall in the darkness. I'm leaning towards a flower meadow and running with the thought. Wonderful expression, Marcel~ Enjoyed, very much. |
