Cradle Creek Purple shadow fingers gave pause, then his hand warmed against muscles that hadn't felt warm since the river last crested and his print seemed to promise a beating of heart echoing soundless strains of "I'll stay" and this time, somehow, I knew it was safe to breathe again. ~*~ And like the river before the rains all was quiet tender pull slow moving, languid, no wake until the first drops pooled ripples and he looked upriver into green and cloudy skies marking time marking Twain telling time with his hands hold off go back making discoveries of the known, but new as earth moans traveled winds and the rushing water was still upstream ~*~ "Do you know August?" the question was asked later in quiet shade and I wondered for a moment a bare moment nude of veils and inhibitions, thinking that I thought I did, once, when it was too hot to move, too torrid to tempt thirst but this August, this August, cool to the touch and warm to the belly, was different just as he would be, and I would be, from this, our instant, forward "Yes," I said, "but I've never known one just like this." |

I've never known one just like that either. I wish I had. Lovely Maree. The clouds never expect it when it rains, but the sea, changes colour, but the sea, does not change. |

I have missed the beauty of a fading summer's dream. Forgive me, August. If I were to touch you, would you bleed a velvet river, running miracles through the sodden ground? --Moi |

Truly a masterpiece. I enjoyed reading into it on a couple of different levels. A very passionate write that left me thinking about how much talent there really is in these little blue pages. This one's a keeper. Warm regards, Kevin |

"Yes," I said, "but I've never known one just like this." Yes, I say too....never known, and never forgotten. This poem is one I will keep for a long time. |

Suthern, we've always felt akin to titles...it has to pull us in. Thank you for reading... James, as ever the gentle poet. Thank you. Pell, I am delighted you enjoyed the view. DS, you see that, and more. Thank you for YOUR eyes. Kevo, different levels were hoped for. That you saw more than one tells me I may have succeeded. Thank you. Meghan...your little SAYS a lot! Zippi, Nightshade, Startime, thank you very much, ladies. IndigoEve...it is not too late. Plenty of August left... CastleGuard, passing shadows, it pleases me to see you here. Thank you. Enchantress, a stew of two, yes. kayjay, Magnus, JamesM...gentlemen, thank you very much. Cpat, that you know, you know, thank you. Ruth, Maureen, thank you, ladies. Iliana, never be THAT old.... Maree...perhaps you will? Who is to say otherwise? |
