I found your presence today in a solitary handful of dirt. No, I did not try to wash myself clean of you. Rather, I let the feel and smell of the earth sink into every pore, every inch of me that knew you. I let the memories flow through me slowly, as if the sieve of life held only grains of you. I believe that wherever you are, you remain the salt of the earth. |
