We studied the east coast Call it “a marvelous philosophical whim” With very few words, simply, climbing Out on a limb Modern technology destroyed itself Right before our eyes, we laughed, held hands and ran, right into a novel Offering us new Island writings At no cost, except a world famous story Which became, our own privet Hollywood Somewhat like The Paris Liberation in 1944 A style which expresses itself in many forms Nothing at all like Skull & Bones They say, once a new love comes along And sweeps you off your feet You forget about the old, but, as of yet I have not met that man who knows how to use A broom, dressing himself, with papers ready While passing through customs Without having to turn on the security alarm Using interactive maps, coloring next week And the next after that We simply drove and stayed for a while Where ever we ended up But now, I am simply a black and white photo Of a soldier…daring, like evergreen shadows Cause when I think back, occasionally I remember the text in the background A collection not of public domain Then, I forgot to take the introductory level classes I was young, sniveling and fresh out of college Now I’m awash in American Prohibition, while Taking a ride on the Hindenburg, looking up Always looking up…but surely I don’t mind Writing a new covenant of the League of Nations As a post modern artist, tracing oils on sandpaper While reading about the south beach diet Needing to shake a few pounds Creating my own virtual sculptures With no interrupted boundaries, simply a journalist Drinking Nature’s finest! Adding woodcut prints, sometimes out of my tree But then, the entire world is my palate, I think About how important it is to get to know your Traveling companion, if happenstance would have it And I’d fall overboard, I need to know, he’ll keep me afloat Because vagueness is a complexity all in it’s own Each day embraces a chamber of events Simple notations winking, free verse running through me Still thinking about our first date, the one “you” forgot Dinner at Cab Fryes and secret codes of quivering love Remember when you grabbed my hand in Williamsburg Reading the labels on each finger, ones you pre-rehersed And assumed I was fishing? You never knew my license expired! You offered me your handkerchief when I sneezed But when I obliged you screamed, grimacing I fell to one corner of the sky “Trying to sop up the spill with recycled paper towels” Do you remember that? A soggy spring picnic under twilight’s chandelier? Where I wore every woman’s face Who poured everything into a well And came up with an empty pale But, at least the pale returned, that accounts for something? Now, I heave a sigh…thinking One day, I’ll gently hit that piñata And all those prizes will fall out Dancing in a whirl of lithography Flowing seaward in a lifelong friendship Closing the door to the darkroom With a smile I ask myself “Can you say….passport?” Not a matter of choice…really Spending summers alone, in the Caribbean It’s where I belong…for now… But, to be candid, I’m missing those one arm bandits In Atlantic City, with no hard feelings, simply exploring the splendid creations life is capable of..... |

A walk down memory lane, history, and exploration. Your references draw many conclusions, but then we know how history repeats itself. You travel well poetess. Sincerely, Reg |

I would rather travel through life alone than be with a bad travelling companion. The more I read your poetry, the more I get to know you ~ and to know you, is to like you! ~ Happy trails! Linda |
