~*~ It's been awhile since I headed out to the desert where the road steers clear and keeps on going the sun so harsh it nearly burned me, not once but twice, setting a fire in my heart from the heat. I can't say the reasons why I kept going back to the same oasis pitching my lean to next to yours knowing you had already moved on as if you were never there. Dissipating like a mirage I wanted to believe in, your pain being a high price for my tears. I used to dream of places by mistake where water was falling all around me but it never quenched my thirst each sip a bitter slip a taste of moonshine, that crossed my eyes and broke my heart. Awakened by the sound of wild wind blowing playing a song on the river that soothed me remembering how it set me up on a thrown and then threw me, and I was the only one there to witness my fall. Winging the silent nights on my own where no compassion is found what used to chill me to the bone left behind a thick layer of dust to shake off. and to think of all the stars I would have been missing. ~*~ [This message has been edited by BluesSerenade (08-02-2004 12:05 PM).] |

"remembering how it set me up on a thrown and then threw me, and I was the only one there to witness my fall." and it doesn't matter if you are the only one there to witness the getting up again - it's simply important to witness all things be they big or small. Also, have you ever really fallen and been aware of that split second or two when you automatically reacted to protect yourself like putting your hands out? Life's like that - we fall and get hurt but there's always that split second. Enjoyed your words as usual dear Bluesy. |

These last verses really hit home for me... the moth is keeping this one. Beautiful writing Lori-girl. |

I, myself, am often winging it with a song and a prayer! ~ but it works! ~ usually! You sure do know how to stir up my emotions with your descriptive and emotive writes, Dear Bluesy One! Your name suits you! You can write the blues like no other! Loving hugs, Linda |

I've always had a hard time telling what and who is for real or not, now I know. Thanks so much for your nice replies, I appreciate them and you, I do. Sincerely~ While I'm at it, I think I'll do a quick edit. |

"Winging the silent nights on my own where no compassion is found what used to chill me to the bone left behind a thick layer of dust to shake off. and to think of all the stars I would have been missing." Lori -- Oh the memories....maybe to keep some wind under our wings? You know, now that I'm getting older I think back on the places where I pitched my tent with great fondness (yes bittersweet) although at the time, I thought I would die of heartache or be an old bitter woman -- it just didn't go like that (after shaking off the dust). Your very lovely, deeply sensitive poem had that feel about it to me. .... .....jo |
