When Fathers Cry |

Silly, isn’t it... When a tear falls and a child’s eye catches it...asking why? Why does a pillar of strength openly weep, sometimes sob...as visions pass across a screen, so captivating, yet so silly. When the Rock crumbles into mere mush and the mind of eleven sees the tender side of he who admonishes.. When good guys sometimes lose and dreams sometimes don’t come true....and children wake a mid summer morn still wondering why. Perhaps I always have been that mushy sorta guy, the one who carries tissue to the theatre and sometimes has to get more....because he was there, there inside that screen, fighting alongside those warriors....holding that lifeless body, seeing the crying of a child....as tears stream endlessly into a pool, causing the popcorn to be soggy....and to hear once again...Why Daddy, why do you cry? And all you do is just cry more....even after the screen is blank, and you sit there numb, embarrassed....waiting for everyone to leave....and those young blue eyes watch you cautiously.... Someday she will know....and when she does, I will pass the tissues....as we both shed a tear and wait for the end, when the good guys win, and fathers cry... |

Barry? There is only one thing that has more impact than seeing one's father cry--and that is understanding that one never will see that again. you are such a sweet poet, thank you for this one |

Karen, having lost my Dad back in March, I know all too well...sheesh...I learned he was just as sensitive a person as I am...and I saw him cry...we even shared tears...it was priceless....just as priceless as my little girl is to me...even when she asks me why I cry.... Thanx Ser... |

"Someday she will know....and when she does, I will pass the tissues....as we both shed a tear and wait for the end, when the good guys win, and fathers cry..." BJ (can I call you that; forgive me if you don't like it, okay) -- You've got nothing on me....I cry watching "I Love Lucy," now that she's gone....but then again, I'm not a man and everyone knows women are emotional, right?. I don't think that's it though. I think it's a tender heart that is not afraid to reveal itself. Yes, someday, our children will know why. Loved this. ....jo |

Very touching. And what a good example for a daughter, to see the tenderness in a Father. And I think it is a gift to be able to step inside of a character while watching a film, no matter how many tissues Susan Happiness isn't something that happens to you, it's created from within you. Joy is a state of mind. |

Undoubtedly an emotional poem for you to write ~ and most definitely an emotional poem for me to read. You are a beautiful and sensitive man, father, and son, Dear Poet. EA |

Barry I wish that I could say I saw my father cry...but I did not...although I understood he cried inside many times...and I could read tears in his face, they were not made of liquid. I envy your daughter this side of you. |

Barry what a sensitive and tender piece. I think it is lovely to see a father who is sensitive to the tears of a child or that sheds tears because he is moved to tears by a movie. Great poem, my friend. |

Silly?? Indeed not! I like a man who isn't afraid to show his emotions, to me it makes them more of an equal and "more real", if you know what I mean. (Gives you a gentle hug, just because she thinks you need one) |

Wonderful Magnus my friend. I remembering seeing my father cry when my mother's illness got severe. His clear blue eyes seemed to turn into overflowing shadow lakes. hugs, Chris "At one glance |

I remember vividly the first time I saw my father cry... I wish so much it had been sentiment and not despair. This is absolutely beautiful... and she's a lucky gal. *S* |
