ESTRANGED I sit alone, trying to envision Life beyond this cynical derision. The pit well known, clinical depression, Fear underlying all intercession. A plastic bubble keeping me from you, A tease to my sense I never break through. Masticated fingers pry at the seam That separates reality from dream. The nightmare of my own self-infliction, Every manic's graceless benediction. Tortured - Society's inane causes, A pricking needle that never pauses. The chemical imbalance of my brain, A residual madness of inert pain... That renders Death to a timeless teasing And almost makes the pain seem pleasing. A feeling I fear, I shake in it's stead. Senses reeling to the wake of the dead. Clarity of thought, chilling to the core, For "not feeling it" I'd fear even more. Michael Anderson --------------------- The master of the smile is sadness. I sit here with head bowed....just wondering - - what it's gonna be like - - you and me. The thoughts that run through your head bewilder me....frighten me....amaze me...intrigue me....sustain me. Maybe that's what I love about you. You are a spectrum of chaotic colors...half of which I wish I had. Thank you for sharing such a powerful piece!
