I wonder if they know just what they did to me,
I wonder if they think about the pain they left me with,
I wonder if they even have it in their souls,
The power to forgive.

I forgive them their mistakes,
Their selfishness or crime,
But still these thoughts do niggle,
And perhaps will for all time.

I still miss some of them,
Long to spend time with them again,
But sometimes you can't go back,
Some things do come to an end.

I will never forget them,
They'll always be in my heart,
Such special relationships,
I know were doomed from the start.

I wonder if they know,
Sometimes I'm still hurting,
Still loving from afar,
That they were worth my loving?

This poem somehow reminds me of a bruised heart that has been broken almost to the point of utter numbness...i like the idea! keep writing because i'm always willing to read it!
