REGRET I see the leprous lion roaring, I see the stricken eagle soaring. Through the unholy depths of memory, An unconscious reality Opens the door to greater pathways, Otherwise confounded in a dark maze. Puzzles of the past reflect the vision, A man mired in indecision. A solemn toast to endless drinking Alleviates the pain of rational thinking. Every night the benediction Of sorrow and self infliction. No restitution from the Graces, Gasping awe in all their faces. Senseless banter, occasional fret, The indelible rewards of regret. From witless realms of the unknown, Fruitless fountains turn to stone. Yet in keeping that date with Destiny, Sweet Misery might miss her company. So I sit back, watching Time fly, With a frozen tear in my eye; Once again forsake the call of Death To mourn over what I so loveth. Dedicating this drink to Apathy, Which so blatantly dances with me. And I celebrate a tomorrow Slowly sipped away, today, in sorrow. And I cherish the recollection Of dreams drowned in their own reflection. Though it's only Passion for which I pine, And vanquished hope dangles from her vine. 12/11/98 [This message has been edited by Michael (edited 08-27-99).] |

Wow! I feel drained after reading this! Such a wonderful poem...how do you do it? Feelings just ooze through in each word, each line! |

I'm with deVine on this one - each stanza is powerfully full of raw emotion! You sure know how to "paint" your soul into a beautiful, yet painful work of art! And what's nice, is that you're not afraid to share yourself with us.....I bow to you. ------------------ - poet FemmeFatale "The strongest man in the world is he who stands most alone..." Yes this speaks volumes....of a heart that has been broken over and over again. Fruitless fountains turn to stone. So many messages in one really good work. I pray that regret vanishes. (: Jenny [This message has been edited by JennyLee (edited 10-03-1999).] |

I relate to every word... I drank a lot of my pain away,"til most of my friends gave up on me. Learning to turn the tainted strength into a creative burn saved my very soul. This is our outlet, and you are telling stories from my past so you must have been there too. Mahalo my friend, DB ------------------ The moon was bright overhead when I reembarked in the pinnace to return to my ship. A chill night breeze came whispering down from the depths of the valley, and suddenly the place was full of ghosts,-shadows of men alive and dead,- my own among them. ========Mutiny on the Bounty==== ========Nordhoff and Hall==== |
