I watch as the evening draws nigh. I see the Shadows grow ever longer. As the Darkness falls, my fear rises; Fear of the Unseen and the Unknown That lurk in the darkness of night. As the sun passes beyond the horizon, I hear the Unseen calling to me. Calling for me to join It in endless night. I listen to Its calls and shrink Hideing in the corner of my cell. The Unknown knocks softly on my door. The sweet seductiveness of It tempts me, Tempts me to open the door and embrace it. But my fear holds me back, because I know the truth I know the sweetness is really poison to draw me away. So I cower in my cell hoping, Hoping that this is not the night they break in. Hoping that They will tire of tormenting me And move on to some other helpless soul, Who will capitulate and join them. I know otherwise, for they will always stay, Stay and drive me mad with Their calling. One night I may give in and heed that call, but until then I can only sit, sit and cower and hide myself from them |

I've always been one for liking darkness but sometimes I feared the things lurking within. That being afraid of myself. I guess that's something that attracted me to this poem. I think your description of darkness was very real to some perspectives and beautiful. ***Sadist Queen*** |
