Sometimes it's nothing. But it prompts, "My goodness, what's wrong?" "It was just a movie." "What did I say?" It's a little spark, the snap of fire that blows the cap on the gunpowder that is childhood (please don't fight anymore, please somebody make him stop) or just (weeks, barely able to meet his gaze for all the loathing there) mourning (the accordion at our wedding... the cookies and making ice cream... the blight that filled her days with morphine and dementia invented images of a shattered glass-like life) losing (what were you thinking? didn't you see you were heading down the way you wanted to avoid?) fear (you have to face it sometime) Sometimes they breed their own kind trigger after trigger multiplying, crossing, overlapping at the shore of your heart, your memory... Sometimes it's nothing. But only when someone is there to take the gun away. [This message has been edited by Portia (edited 06-09-2000).] |
