Tis spring again, when we dust off our minds
And prepare for yet another session of following
The image of the Cross,

Yet not the Cross...

We take up our swords and march onward,
Each man's foot is in alignment with the other,
Each man's mouth is stern and silent.

The only messenger of the Cross is our swords.

Ahead of us we look and see the image.
It is the image of the Cross,

Yet not the Cross...

We shall march on and destroy the enemy.
We shall destroy homosexuality.
We shall destroy Evolutionism.
We shall destroy rational thought.

We will do all these things in the name of the Cross,

Yet not the Cross...

Another battle is won.
Another soul is driven away.

But my faith is waning.
The cross that stands before us all is fading.

Many things have been done, and continue to be done, in the name of the cross. And yes! the cross is indeed fading! Well Done!

God grant me the serenity to accept the people I cannot change, the courage to change the one I can, and the wisdom to know it's me. ~Unknown

In case anyone is interested the bible does
condemn homosexuality in Leviticus 20:13, it also tells catholics what to eat, it makes for an interesting read. I am glad that those parts of the cross are fading,
though there are certain parts such as "love thy neighbour" that we should all focus on, but even the righteous are more worried about tried to save/condemn us sinners that they forget about the love part.

a great poem, got me thinking as you can see.

This puts me in mind of the crusades...marching off to kill the hordes of unbelievers (yes, Brian - never minding the love thy neighbor part).

This symbol, the cross, has been misused, just as any symbol can (and probably has) been misused at some stage during it's existence.  This is a good reason for people NOT to put blind faith in a symbol (of any sort).  Faith is concept - if we put faith in ourselves and not in symbols, we will probably avoid doing unto others what we'd never want done to us.

This is a thought provoker.  I could go on for ever about why I think people fear evolution, or homosexuality.  Maybe fear stems from that which we recognize and deny in ourselves. Thanks for sharing.

Judge not lest ye be judged?

Let he who is without sin cast the first stone?

Why is it these concepts always escape those who claim to follow the man who exhibited them?

I wish the people who most needed to would remember that we all are human.

I use to cast stones (the way I was raised)
Until one came back and hit me.

I wish there were more peoms like this. What we do in the name of Christianity has nothing to do with what Jesus wanted us to. How can a society that thrives on violence and selfish pursuit of wealth claim to do this in the name of Jesus? And how do we explain these contradictions to our children? I've been asking myself that for years..
