The New American Dream The American Dream That twist of reality One must have money A family, own a home Let no one know there is no money To make ends meet What happened to the freedom We fought so hard to win Freedom to live our lives No one's "standards" to meet Spend money not had Buy things not needed This is how it's twisted Into the New American Dream Live in debt for all life Never make ends meet More and more is gathered in Until we meet defeat. Without darkness there is no light Without the light we cannot see the dark Balance...It heals the soul -- by: LB [This message has been edited by Lady Bere (edited 05-03-2000).] |

Dear Lady, have you seen "Fight Club" it's a new video out, a great movie, a little bloody, but interesting. check it out.haha in the end you will like the consept. Joel. I howl a mournful song, that echos within my chambered heart, for all to read? nay for all to feel. |

Unfortunately "the New American Dream" is not only restricted to your country, but has spread world wide it seems. It saddens me deeply at times to see the material 'society' take over the real values of life. Great poem. |
