INFIDELITY'S KNIFE Infidelity's knife is sharp, it cuts deep into my soul and the pain pierces through me. It cuts out my heart, yet I do not die. My heart continues to beat within it's cold, cruel grasp. My life slowly drains from me, yet I do not die. I continue to struggle on, living, but not alive. It shatters all my dreams, yet I do not die. I can only grasp for a future that no longer exists. It destroys my trust, yet I do not die. The empty space it leaves behind fills with fear and uncertainty. It takes away my love, yet I do not die. My heart still wants to love, even as my lover holds the knife. |

Welcome CADreamer!! I can so relate to this piece. Especially loved the line, 'my life slowly drains from me yet I do not die, I continue to struggle on, living, yet not alive!' I know the feeling. Thanks for the kind comments about my poem. I don't write poety often. This was an overflow of overwhelming emotion. I had discovered my husband was having yet another affair, and this time he had chosen his mistress over me. My marraige of 13 years was coming to an end, and I was helpless to stop it. This web page is a wonderful new home for my poem. It was just too much to leave hidden in my journal. I appreciate the opprtunity to share it and to get some feedback on it. Thank you. |

Such desperate saddness  sorry that this is happening to you and hope that you are strong enough to cope, such a feeling of loss it is like a death when you discover your marriage is over. Dreamer, My heart to you, for your pain, I had a 20 year out the window also. lost every thing. So many know of your pain here, put it into words it will help, you have a way of expressing yourself, from the heart. I look forward to more. And A Heartfelt howwwllling welcome from Joel the wolf. Thank you again to all of you. Alot of time has passed since I wrote that, and my life is much happier. My husband moved out in January, and our divorce was final in early April. I have my home, my children, and now a new love. I will be graduating from college next week, too. My life was very dark a year ago, but now I have more happiness than I've had for a very long time. I hope to be inspired to write happier poems now. |

Well, I felt inspired to write a happy poem tonight. I posted it under "Open Poetry #7". It's titled "My Heart is Like a Child". I hope you find it more cheerful than my last poem. |
