TRUE BEAUTY There was a time when beauty was just skin deep to me This was back in the days of my young mentality For I really couldn't see the forest for the trees Just acting on feelings and hormones, and nothing up my sleeves I would fawn over a pretty face, and pretty eyes to boot Round hips, buttucks, nice chest, nice waist,... typical physical female attributes I would bite my knuckles, bite my lip, whatever the case And sometime say to myself "THAT GURL is FOIN!!!!", while contorting my face Now, these same pretty faces that would cause my jaw to drop to the floor Somehow don't look so attractive anymore Fort wisdom has shown me things that are true What looks good, isn't neccessarily good for you Physically,... yes,... they make me want to trek the dessert sand But they really don't know how to treat their fellow man Which is very unfortunate, because unknowingly they ellect,... To reap the benefits of the boomerang effect They treat a brotha wrong, 'cause they feel they should In their eyes it makes them look and feel good Using their influence of beauty for purposes, self-serving When in fact their outward beauty is a gift from God, of themselves undeserving But what outward beauty, and beauty aids can't hide Is the spirit that within a person abides That when manifested shows the pomp and pride,... Of the true nature of the person inside What is beauty then, if not aesthetic appearance Beauty is a spiritual attribute of the person and their very essence The nature of who they are, not outwardly, but within An attributes that goes much deeper than the skin Now when I see a "vision of lovliness", that spins my mind in a twirl I just simply look and say to myself "Pretty Girl" And look at her inward person from where her true nature comes For it is within, where true beauty comes from |

Very well written poem! Tis true how some only see the outter beauty and not the beauty within. You expressed it oh so well. Peace Dark_kisses I do not love you for being perfect..... I love you for being perfect for me!! |

Very well written poem with some wise thoughts that we all need to grasp...I thought about the song Pretty Woman...he was only looking at the outward beauty...if we only look for that we will fail in our relationships...I think we need to balance the inner and the outer beauty. James |

It is what comes from within that makes a woman beautiful or not, only time teaches you that. She could look like a movie star, but be a nothing and shallow inside where it counts most!!
