SERPENT'S STARE < !signature-->I know when to say when, Won't go back there again, I know when I've had my chain pulled. For such sweet sexy lies May sugarcoat the guise But don't think for a minute I'm fooled. Tender misconception, I heed no direction, I'm perfectly fine standing still. And I may die alone, Ah, but who there would groan, Alas, she who proffers the pill? So surely you jest, Come on, give it your best, Show me the pouting one more time. Sing ever so slowly, Mesmerize the lowly, Serenade by sweet words of rhyme. Time stood still I'll look on, By the call of the dawn, ‘Er helpless to this serpent's stare. Taken with grain of salt, Knowing ‘twill be my fault, For daring believe she could care. All while sweet silent chants Like invisible ants, Crawl as worms I feel but can't see. Slip by these blinded eyes, Rancor ever the prize, In evisceration of me. Pining in memory, Shall Deception ‘er see, But two eyes of shimmering gold. A lock of hair on a chain Of silver kept in vain, In life never free from her hold. Michael Anderson For all behind was dark and drear, And all before was night and fear. How many hours of night or day In those suspended pangs I lay, I could not tell; I scarcely knew If this were human breath I drew. Yes freedom is an illusion. You've out done yourself again. Joel. I howl a mornful song, that echos within my chambered heart, for all to read? nay for all to feel. |

Ouch. Dang. I kicked the desk...you make me think too much, I think...and methinks me thinks too much already...what about hope? what about faith? Is faith naught but suspended disbelief? Ouch....and on and on and on...somebody please...gimme the answer. |

Joel, Indeed, you can tell yourself you're free all you want - but in the end... serenity dear, email me and let me know what's on your mind. You got me thinkin' and I already think too much, too...LOL Oh, and faith = the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of that not seen. dhuron, glad you enjoyed. Sincerest thanks to all of you. I love the use of the serpent image in here as it is so well connected with the deception and betrayal expressed by the rest of your poem. My prob always is I believe the lies until its slapping me in the face that they never meant a damn word! Could relate to lots here. Awesome work!
