zak I sit amongst you With the circle of men In their stiff blue suits Ablivious to our quick glances Up at your eyes Down to the long yellow paper Over to the cold, stale coffee Back to you I touch my wedding ring Move it up and down Noticing the contrasting white skin underneath My name is called confusion unnoticed with an intentional charming smile I speak to the suits with words that mean nothing I glance to you for an approving gesture Hoping nothing came through You like telling the observant ones That you like me that we are just good friends I like telling these observant ones That you're married. I am married. How dare they insult my integrity! How dare I insult my own integrity? I ask myself. Integrity can be Love's enemy. Can I give you up for my peace of mind? Yes, I could. But my soul says stay. |

I love this mcclain...it's so very well written. It all came together good and it left me with something to think about. Great job!
