I know the truth A family living lies All dressed up Wearing perfection's guise But I know the secret The skeleton in the closet's me Taunted by the darkness That just won't let me be Why can't they admit Just once that they know But they tell me it didn't happen Just to let it go Branded a liar Paying for his sins Tormented endlessly Again and again I knew things that A child should not But "nothing happened" It's best forgot How easy for them They are not me Did nothing wrong But I'm still guilty! My mind cannot rest Something I could have done Carrying around this baggage That seems to way a ton I didn't stop him I didn't say no I was a little kid How was I supposed to know NO EXCUSES! I knew it was wrong Yet I participated I played along Guilty by association Maybe that much is true Memories driving me insane What was a child to do ??? "A poet is one who spends a lifetime standing out in thunderstorms, waiting to be hit by lightning" ~Randal Jarrell~ |

You impressed me with this one StarrGazer. I felt your pain reading it. ***** I knew it was wrong Yet I participated I played along Guilty by association Maybe that much is true Memories driving me insane What was a child to do ??? ***** Perfect ending, very very well written! Hang in there, hug to you Yours truly Broken I`m running out of time, I`m out of step and closing down, I never sleep for wanting hours the empty hours of greed. And uselessly always the need to feel again the real belief, of something more than mockery. If only I could fill my heart with love. -Robert Smith |

Somehow thru writing poetry and revealing the pain from your heart I hope the truth will be revealed and your mind will find rest. I know it is a journey. Take care. James |

This one really hit me Starr....I relate to it so well...for once I wish that I didn't understand. But I do... *hugglez* I know it'll always be there for you..just like it will for me...but James is right...by writing about it and sharing your feelings your helping to ease that pain. Great poem Starr...once again you've left your mark. Michael funny how our pens seem to take over and write for us sometimes eh? Broken thanks for your kind comments and sometimes it seems like I've no choice but to hang in there I've becomea sucker for pain perhaps James thanks with such wonderful people here I think I'm finding the journey a lot easier than some have it Dark Enchantress ((((hugzzzz)))) thanks for understanding seems far too many people have been in this situation a sadness of its own right ... Virgo like I've said I'm still trying to deal with this myself but if you ever need to talk ... I'm just a click away Jannel thanks writing is such a release for me it screams when I want to scream but remain silent "A poet is one who spends a lifetime standing out in thunderstorms, waiting to be hit by lightning" ~Randal Jarrell~ |

Excellent Starr. . . You have indeed been through much. . . but remember that the pen leads us on the path of healing. . . you have taken that first step. . . ----------------------------------------------------- That which gives light must endure burning --Victor Frankl |

Your poem stirs compassion and sadness in me for you and for what you have been through..and are going through....feel the warmth and love of all the people who so obviously care about you.... I also felt anger though..that things like this can happen...and people make children feel that they are to blame..when they are simply the innocent victims of crimes that should not happen! Take care... "Love is the only drug you can take that will convince you each time that you've never had it before." ~author unknown~ |
