A blanket woven out of the darkness Envelops me, draws me in deeper Abandoning all hopes of happiness The way to the light grows distant- steeper You look upon me with disdain- disgust Eyes darkened with silent accusations You chose not to understand my distrust ...to overlook my soul's desecration The dark threads of deciet and lies Becomes thicker snuffing out the light My weakened pitiful soul crys A piercing scream in the middle of night I build emotional walls, shut the doors tight Unfathomable pain is locked away inside I'm too tired of this too tired to fight Should have known better, should have never tired The darkness claims me, takes me as it's own I become just another darkened thread Fading to black, unnoticed- alone A cadaver with a heartbeat alive but dead "A poet is one who spends a lifetime standing out in thunderstorms, waiting to be hit by lightning" ~Randal Jarrell~ |

So beautiful and yet very painful to me because of how well I relate to this...so very well...but your fight for light, love, and happiness can be won and the prize is worth much more than the cost. *hugglez* Keep it up... Star, A very chilling poem. Don't fall into the darkness...you might never get back out. It is an eternal struggle. The last stanza, was so very heart wrenching....wonderful! |
