FOR THE SOCIO-POLITICALLY CONSCIOUS 11/4/87 A thousand eyes, a thousand gone by Too young to die, too old to cry Living indecision, military precision Nuclear fission, death, the ultimate confusion Damn the machine which remains unseen And bodies lean, just eighteen Better the pride in hearts reside Coming from inside, no love to hide From every sea to you and me Longing to be in God’s country Civilization means mass mutilation Starvation, and no salvation Governments repress social unrest People depressed, some cruel jest Keeps them down, praise to the crown They stay around in the underground Casting stones, breaking of bones Hidden undertones, fire and brimstone What is right, it is our might We stand and fight through darkest night Citizens of the world, their flags unfurled Crimson sky swirls as blood of boys and girls The war lives on, lives are gone Too many wrongs, and marching songs Religious persecution, deadly execution Industrial pollution, the state of the Union |
