THE RUBBER ROOM Well I've tried on it, it just don't fit, This one size suits all strait-jacket society. I've tried to conform just to meet the "norm", A challenge in itself to my sobriety. I've spilled my guts just to be called "nuts"- To eighty dollar an hour quiet clowns, Who just stare at me funny, like I owe them money, No tears, no smiles, no smirks, no frowns. Whatever I say or do, it's catch 22, I've already been branded. Treating truths as sadness, lies as madness, I'll ever be reprimanded. They show me splotched ink, asking what I think, I tell them I don't think abstractly. But they twist each word to make me sound absurd, Prick at my weak points, so exactly. Till every voice fades and blackness invades, Across my temples, violently pulsating. As silent rage slowly comes of age, And I can no longer give in to their grating. It's what they've pushed for so I let it soar, The hate, the anger, the rage, but then... Restraints, an injection, good-bye recollection, I wake up in the rubber room again. Michael Anderson And no, I've never really been there, just in case you wondered...LOL |

...well, I related all too well...to a few too many lines in this one I think we all have that"rubber room" inside our heads...some of us just visit it more than others(smile)...my room stays reserved...LOL the true sign of a gifted poet is when they can take us... with their words, to a place neither of us have been...this one proves my point perfectly. ...there are places inside all our souls... that have never been touched... there are places inside our hearts... that need to be loved this much... Are we not all always a little crazy over something? Kelly I love the male body, it's better designed than the male mind.---Andrea Newman |

I too keep the door to my personal rubber room open at all times. Occasionally I spend a day there. This as always was descriptive, sensitive and dark Michael, well done May the world hug you today, With it's warmth and love. I pray it whispers a joyful tune in your heart, That tell you there is a friend sitting in another corner of the world, Wishing you well and wishing you love...... ~Isis~ (Goddess - Sovereign of the Spirit) |

I find myself wishing for rubber rooms more often than not, and I've succeeded at conforming more than once. It never sticks. And if I'm reading this correctly, those funny looks from therapists are what have caused me to hold back with even them. Unbeknownst to them, they handed out diagnoses with less than half of the information. Pardon me whilst I excavate today. ;-)

Very few are the ones who ever take the time to even understand truly what a person suffers from. I had a therapist who was complete O.C.D. I know I had her pegged more than she ever did me. Moved desk an inch to the right in her room while she wasn't in it and she totally flipped out on me when she came back in. I still laugh to think she called me nutz. There are good ones out there, just very few and far between. |
