~Loves Old Cliche'~ Someone once said the words..."misery loves company"... This wisdom still holds true, Who ever spoke it...must have once loved you. I thought you were so special-- Like every love song written, all my dreams put into verse. Instead you were a nightmare...an unrelenting curse. Why can I now see it all so clearly-- You read me for weak--I mistook you for kind... and when it all came down, I nearly lost my mind. For you, no need was ever too great, You took all that there was left...all that there was to take. How does it feel, to be my life's most costly mistake. Looking back-another old phrase comes to mind-- More cliches' of love, to help my broken heart mend... "The same thing that you wish for--will kill you in the end." Janet Marie this was another poetry worshop assignment...its purpose being to make us aware of how often poets and writers borrow and incorporate old quotes and phrases from the past. how many times have I written the term "broken heart"...too many to count...(smile)..but I'm always grateful for the inspiration. ...found your heart-then lost your lover...licked your wounds then run for cover... take your time...there will be another... and dont make the same mistake twice... unless you can pay the price... Janet Marie, You did a great job of incorporating some cliche's so that it really didn't even seem that way. ~Gene |

Another old cliche' "Be careful what you wish for or you may just get it!" Well written, and the ending so true, what you give out comes back to you times three. It's true it really does happen. Let your heart guide you. It whispers, so listen closely. ~Isis~ (Sovereign of the Spirit) |

I really liked this one. I especially like the rhyme scheme. And that last line is too true. Well done! |
