Trapped in stone and numbing cold I fight a coma's stranglehold Yet ignorance will pay the toll the horror of a silenced soul The stillness of my body hides explosive pent up longing inside For what I feel, and you don't see, my mind retains its clarity Grace grants me not the smallest twitch, each tortured itch brings needle pricks Time is now my enemy, Its ticking, mocking misery My mind screams with vibrant energy, In this prison bound by the shell of me- Bursting with feral need, cruel freedom seen, yet still, it cannot be. -- October 1996 |
