I remember it being dark In the gloom I could make Out the twisted, jumbled Piles of chairs and tables. Where a shaft of lamplight Broke through the closed blinds And struck a silvery flailing chair leg, There was brightness. We entered together, Slipping soundless into the storeroom, Ears alert for anyone who Might discover us. I remember it being dark - and we, Not sure of our boundaries, edged Along the wall to a niche in the corner. He pressed me agaist the wall, Tugging off his shirt, unbuttoning Mine. There was no room in the corner To lay. He was different this time, As if the five days we'd been apart Had been enough for someone To switch - to take him out And put someone else in his body. My body knew. He was rough with me this time, Very shallow, very surface. It was the first time his hands On my body felt wrong. The Uneven bricks pressed into my back, And a hook jutting from the wall Kept cutting into my side. It was a sensual crucifixion. "No," I whispered. "Not like this." I don't want my first to be like this. Always before when I'd said No He'd eased away knowingly. Now, I had to wrench his hands from My zipper. "No!" I wish I could have seen his eyes. It was too dark. My memory won't let go of that room... It was the first time I'd ever felt Like one of those chairs, Like something thrown In storage. |

This was written as part of a creative exercise in the Writers' Society I'm a part of, and I'm not sure how it went. I'd love suggestions, criticism, etc. -wen |

I thought I commented on this but I guess not. Anyway this was an interesting thing to comment on I'm not sure if it was to relate rape or somthing else? And what is a writer's society? Also was it written in one sitting? "Write down what you say if what you say is not written down" (Bojopy) |

My my, lots of questions ;-) This is a true narrative, actually - our exercise asked us to go to a part of the building we were meeting in and sit in it and just write for 15 minutes (so, yes, it was written all in that 15 minutes). We didn't have to write a poem exactly, just brainstorm and write. I knew as soon as they said the activity that I would be heading to that storage room, and this is what I wrote. A Writers' Society - a 'club' per-say at my college that I'm vice-president of. We meet every Wednesday at the coffee shop and have workshops over the stuff we've been working on all week. We get feedback, a chance to hear our stuff aloud, suggestions, etc. It's really fun. And sometimes we do creative exercises, hear guest speakers, etc. -wen |

Wow that sounds like alot of fun!!! I've always been afraid to share my writings out loud. Only in here! But maybe I'll look into it "Write down what you say if what you say is not written down" (Bojopy) |
