Little eyes Never to see Never to see his older brother, me Little mouth Never to talk Never to eat that first grade chalk Little hands Never to touch Never to hold mom and say "I love you so much" Little tongue Never to taste Never to shove chocolate into his face Little ears Never to hear Never to hear mom say "I love you too, dear" Little child never given a chance A chance to run, play, sing, or dance Instead a needle into his arm formed a hole And was dependent upon God to save my brother's soul I held my mother tight that night For fear that she'd die too But she managed to live today She managed to pull through Daddy's still the quiet one Not wanting to talk at all Scared to touch the little child Wishing it never happened at all I picked up the little child Gave him my first kiss Thing was the first was the last The kiss that I do miss Little child sleeps now Sleeps without a cry No pain no suffering ever again Sometimes I wonder why little children die Is it because it was God's plan Or was my brother born without a chance I still see him today Not by imagery or sound But in every child's face Running and playing throughout the town Little child if you hear me, I want to say I wish you never died I miss you every day Little child in heaven God rest your soul And little child in heaven anew Stay there and wait for me Till the day we live forevermore. After I returned from the cemetery, I felt like using this wonderful way of expressing myself. This poem isn't exactly all that great, but it's all the pain and hatred i felt when I saw the place where the "little child" was buried. There is a dream inside a dream. I'm wide awake the more I sleep. You'll understand when I'm dead - B. Warner |

A beautiful tribute indeed. I often wonder why God must take babies and little young children... *sigh*. I believe he has a greater purpose for them, perhaps now your little brother is some other child's guardian angel.... (HUGS) At the touch of love everyone becomes a poet. A beautifully sad poem but happy for the love it contains and reflects. I am touched to the core. I wish I had the poem that a past coworker of mine's wife wrote when they lost their first baby after only hours. Like yours it talked about what was missed but also expressed love for the baby, the soul that is now eternal. There is tremendous meaning in every life, long or brief. I have cried at the birth of my three children, I can't imagine how I would have been if we lost them. I hope you and your family experience peace and always hold onto that kiss you miss. |

I just want you to know that the pain is understandable. I lost my twin sons, and this expressed just how it feels. The pain and sorrow will always be there, but I know that they are happy playing amongst the stars and watching over me. |

After writing my first post here I knew there was going to come something good out of it. There really is a family here, and After only about 3 days of being here, I already feel as welcomed as those that have been here since October of '99. Thanks to everyone for your encouraging words and thoughts on each of my poems, especially this one. The one i spent writing not for good replies but as a rememberance of the loss our family had experienced. Thanks again There is a dream inside a dream. I'm wide awake the more I sleep. Chained Angel- This poem brought a tear to my eye. I have never experienced the loss of a child. But I do have one. He was born with a birth defect. It was nothing really life threatening. But I was young, didn't know what it was or what was happening or if he was going to be alright. It was the scariest thing I've ever had to go through. There was a couple of things through the pregnancy and the birth where I thought for a moment that I might lose him. Your poem just brought it all back to me. My heart goes out to you and your family. God bless. |

Hello*Goodbye... Where's the navigator of your destiny? Where is the dealer of this hand? Who can explain life and it's uncertainty? 'Cause there is nothing here that I can understand. You and I have barely met and I just don't want to let go of you yet. And so I hold your tiny hand in mine for the hardest thing I've ever had to face. Heaven calls for you before it calls for me when you get there, save me a place. A place where I can share your smile and I can hold you for more than just awhile. Eli, hello, goodbye. I'll see you on the other side. Eli, sweet child of mine, I'll see you on the other side. ChainedAngel... your pain is most definately felt... God bless you and watch over you. I'm sorry you had to experience this. I merely say what's in my heart and you call it a style. Don't put it in a cage, don't mistreat it. You say you're hungry for knowledge... Here it is... EAT IT!! -DMX ~Lil OnE~ |
