IMITATION REALITY (Ode to a Chronically Depressed Diabetic) Time in a bottle, the story of my life. It all adds up to three shots a day. Each unit injected buys moments reflected- In dying images of yesterday. But Time I don't honor, surely don't respect, And don't feel the need to answer to. For Time is the demon that breaks life into season. It's only Time that keeps me from you. And so the question passively arises, With all emotion been stripped from the fringe. As I measure the units into hours and minutes, Is there really life in a syringe? Peace of mind in a pill, is that the answer? Well that's what they've given to me. Anti-reality attacks with a child proof cap, For all that anger and anxiety. Just say "Yes" to drugs when normality's the issue. Are my problems really so easily solved. What happens the day I can't fill my prescription? Who's really disillusioned may just be resolved. But at least for now, with a little bit of effort, I can function in society. With my time in a bottle and my peace of mind pills, My imitation reality. Michael R. Anderson [This message has been edited by Michael (edited 12-14-1999).] |

Oh Michael that is a sad way to look at things my friend. We are lucky today with what medications can do, without them, you and myself for two wouldn't be here!! I went through all that years ago with at the time was a life threatening allergy. Thank God my immunity to mint is normal now. But I know and understand my friend. What the inner voice says will NOT disappoint the hoping soul. ~Isis~ (Daughter of Mystery) |

You did a wonderful job with this piece Michael. You showed me a view I have never seen before. Very well written, my friend. |

I swear, the more I read of yours, the better I feel I know you! As Marilyn said, thank you for showing me a side I'm not familiar with....very moving indeed! It's amazing how life looks through the eyes of another person, different from yourself.....Thank you for sharing such heavy emotion(s). |

Introspection and philosophy go hand in hand in your verse and life my friend. I know the numbing effects of meds too well myself. Deep thought from you seems destined for verse. Now and forever, my heart hears ~one voice~. DreamEvil© ------------------------------------------------------- "Either kill me or take me as I am, because I'll be damned if I ever change..." Being a two shot a day diabetic, I know all to well the feelings in this piece... Thanks for writing it so others may have a glimpse into this world I have learned to endure.
