Last evening the breezes were barbarous.
I perceived in the whoop-de-do' ruthless
cries of marring, shouts of euphoria.
Oh...my heart trembled with each thunderous
crash...but I would not turn mine eyes in fear.
Dryads danced o'er the sedge. I made out their
laurel-tipped scepters in the wavering,
standing timber and I was aghast with
awe. I felt the tumult of their movements
in the maniacal windstorm and yet there
was laughter in the words they cried to the
night. In the thrashing cloudburst I tasted
wine. Yea rosy-skinned Bacchus called to
me! His lengthy chestnut fingers soon wound
in my locks as he wrenched back my head and
willed that I drink. His rose-colored garments
swept about me. How I yearned to tear my
finery, and lift that keg once more, so
that I too might savor the flesh...join the
erogenous carousing. Yet I stepped
back into my sanctuary, cinched the
door on experience, and fell into
Morpheus' embrace. It was, after all,
only the weather. The dance was ended.

Remember, if you're not part of the future, you're history!

You turned your back on the dance? How could you? It's a poet's duty to get out there and cavort with the dryads and drink Bacchus's offering! I love the mythic overtones and the feel of this.

I love reading your poetry, EV2.  The imagery is so alive-it speaks to so many senses.  I'll try to do a search in a few weeks to catch up on what I've missed.  Take care,
