Softly staring into darkness,
moon and stars
not strong enough by half
to tear the shadow seals
on sleep tonight;
I am no one's hero
when I'm staring down my demons,
we just share awareness
of each other's points of weakness.
I really have to try to sleep,
to keep a steady hand at dawn,
today nothing seemed to work
and before I noticed,
the day was gone.

Icebox, it seems as if we both have a sleep problem. It's like we want to know what truly happens when we sleep but being awake, of course, doesn't enable that to be. Losing a day somewhere sounds like a good idea.

Though I do fall asleep, I often have the feeling of days slipping by, not fully LIVED.

Thank you all for taking time to read this and for your generous comments. Writing poetry often helps me to focus my mind (what little may be left of it), but this change of season has me all fragmented. It is nice to know I am not alone.

I had too many days in the past that slipped away doing the same thing over and over...and hating it.

I don't do that anymore and stopped aging at the same time...
