The Yellowed Brick Road I pressed your name against the glass a sterile solution to where my lips could not touch skin where I watched you enticingly dropped crumbs thinking for me it would surely be enough leading to a path nowhere oz too was busy behind a curtain creating a land that really wasn’t there what is it that you offer me in a temptation that I can not hold a tortured view so largely in sheer magnification seen when daylight hits glass you do not believe in me but dangle a string that only keeps me tied to loneliness I deserve so much more did you think you were the last rung on a ladder I could climb to save myself you misjudge my possibilities and the fragrance of my desires arrive way before I even set foot in a room and in your back room something else smolders |
