Saying Goodbye Driving away from the airport at 5am I think how hard it is to let you go. A few more minutes to hold your hand or snuggle into your shoulder doesn't seem too much to ask. But you kept checking your watch and the airline corridors, too anxious to appreciate our last few moments together. Now you are on your way back across the country, and I realize I should have kissed you a little longer, held on a little tighter - anything to keep your heart and mind on me until you walked away. |

I wrote this for my exhusband after he visited last summer...it did hurt at the time but now I am so far past that...I remember sending it to him because he complained in 20 years together I never wrote a poem forhim-I didn't-he never inspired me that way. How sad that this , finally,was the kind of inspiration he gave me. |
