walking the surreal

0 posted 2004-04-15 08:17 PM

Once upon a time
It seems ages past
In a world apart
I walked a different path

I spoke to the sky
I danced among the trees
I sang upon the rocks
I reveled in Creation's glory

My heart wandered free
My lips kissed the sun
My fingers touched the clouds
My worldly bonds undone

I’d lie at night in the hands of God
As shadows veiled the light of day
And moonbeams fluttered across my skin
Sweet dreams coming to steal me away

But lands of bliss, they do not last
And change comes swift and true
For destiny claims her given right
And moves your path anew

Now I walk among city men
The wilds left behind
But still my heart beats with joy
Be it a joy of a different kind.

I haven't had the pleasure of reading you before but I am most certainly glad that I found your words and will be awaiting more.
This was heartfelt and honest. Very well done.

This is just a wonderful piece~

'I’d lie at night in the hands of God
As shadows veiled the light of day
And moonbeams fluttered across my skin
Sweet dreams coming to steal me away'

Thanks for your kind replies.  I miss often my mountain home, which we lost to fire one fateful night, but with a child, living with neighbors and schools and parks close by is a good thing.
