A Certain Degree of Attitude ![]() Here I go again on that wind of road the one with the precipice on one side and the sharp rocks on the other you know the one where the road crew can’t reach cause fixing this one takes courage and a certain degree of attitude So this is the one I’m on you see and I have stopped at this hair pin curve and I can’t really see if anything is coming but I know there is only room for me if I’m careful so I gather myself together but I find I cannot slither around these rocks they are sharp and I’m bleeding fear So I close my eyes and I remember how my father taught me to cross a river on the rocks it takes a straight back and a sure foot and an attitude and you just do it like you were not in danger of tumbling into a raging current you do it with a meadow of grass below you and your father’s smile ---------- reposted because of my husband, Taylor, and anyone else who may find the words helpful...like me! |

Wonderful Marti - hope my kids look at me like that in distant future ( maybe once the Kid-Blinders come off) The Kids Small wonder that things aren’t the same anymore. I mean, with the kids doing their own thing now. Mom and Dad are part of the past. They are the ancient soothsayers whose knowledge is far surpassed by the wiser, smarter, kids. The kids, follicles of growth. Progeny gone wild. I pity the old. The old. The you and me. The parents that did their damnedest to nurture and protect, to imbue, to prepare them for the reality of living. We didn’t fail. We just ceased to grow. At least, that’s what the kids think. We stopped expanding. Became stagnant. And the kids left us stuck in the miasma of age, while they grew with the exuberance, the immortality of youth. The kids. Leonine novices, stylish parvenu, forgetting their roots. . . . ....as I said ... when/if the blinders come off, like they did for me and you. |

"it takes a straight back and a sure foot and an attitude and you just do it like you were not in danger of tumbling into a raging current you do it with a meadow of grass below you" You do indeed. |

Martie, this was my first read of the morning. You make me "want" to go out and find that passage over the raging current. A saving grace! Hugs Lee J. |

There are qualities -- both good and bad ones -- that we have to have....and a certain degree of attitude. I know the road you speak of, that literal road and the figurative one too; and I know this very turn all too well, the possibilities and the alternatives. But I never wrote it, and after reading this I wish I had. ~~(¸¸¸¸ºº> ~~(¸¸¸¸ºº> ~~(¸¸ ¸¸ºº> ~~~(¸¸ER¸¸ºº> |
