I don’t know why I put myself through this,
The pain and pleasures of love.
The confusing feeling of constant emptiness,
But also of being too sated.
Never knowing if this is reality
Or just a dream to be awaken from.
And realizing I’m not perfect nor have ever been
And have found my match, my competition.
Even the fact that I can love, do love,
Is over much to bear.
It leaves me vulnerable, naked, and unfed.
Not knowing where to go.
Left to sheer happiness,
Strait to contentment,
Or right to utter despair.
I’m blinded and being guided.
Not by instinct because there is no instinct for love,
But by something, someone, not of my control.
By loving I’ve given up my independence
And have become dependant.
Why? Because love is not one sided
And it seems to fight would have been even more disastrous.
Still I don’t understand why I gave in.
This unknown scares me more and more,
And the new and changed I have never enjoyed.
Perhaps its because it feels so right
Along with all that’s so wrong.
Or maybe because you trusted me and fell first,
And all I could do was tumble along.
