now that was weird that spinning object winged, six-legged spinning on its back I attempted to help it put it upright right back to its back it went spinning again spinning, spinning one more up righting one more up-side-downing spinning, spinning I moved on to accomplish my chore heretofore planned all the while considering its plight should I have put it out of its misery? was it misery or merely a merry-go-round ride? I’ll look again on my return pass it it’s still spinning not out of gas I’ll show mercy kill it end its suffering its endless spinning there it is spinning it uprights itself then onto its back again spinning, spinning stomp! remorse for now I wonder though it’s only April could it be a may fly one who’s days number only one? did I cut short its mere 24 hours? did I end its suffering or its joy? was it spinning as if on a toy? who was I to decide? ©April 25, 2004 Whether on the shoal or on the shore, |

you wonder if it suffered as you crushed it to the floor perhaps its role was finished perhaps its chores no more |
