Science is thatness What religion calls thisness, Zen calls it suchness ******* Only finding peace in dreams, I ask why, must I be asleep To hear the whispers, Of the masters in my ear? * Awake,I pretend to take Prayer stones in my hand, In them seek, truth but know I won't find it..When asleep Turn my cup twice, bow and take Share of bread and tea... And see through eyes of ancients, Who live in high nirvanic states Of perfect suchness. * But on rising find my vision Has gone weak, when awake Find the lamp of Dharma, out And I've lost the wisdom That I've found, thus Merely raking leaves at bases Of the many question trees; Still expecting beings, more supreme To come and help me cut them down. * I turn on the TV... And wrestle with the emperor, Who has stumbled up blind alleys Of religion and morality That have made him weak; but His sword is heavy, sharp and long And behind his fortress walls Wait many captains, hiding Listening for his rattle, Of the locks upon their doors. * But the emperor is wrong Because he shuns his dreams, Because he still believes That his waking power, and his creed Will stay away disasters; That they state all perfect truths Found in this and thatness, And contain the final answers. |

Inky Yes, there seems to be no clear exits...but then again a zen student should not look for any, nor entrances...something tells me you have run in those same circles... Thank you for reading. ------ice ><> |

(big hugggsssssss) And in the not-so-distant future, hopefully November, the emperor will realize he has no clothes and he will experience the shame, the pity, the agony, in his own hubris! (sigh) This is exactly ehat's wrong with our society and why so many are duped; many believe this is a "right" society, no a responsible society. Cultural appropriation is essential in its own means, but when it imbues with split-screen views of what's true and untrue, it becomes the curse of our society! (sad sigh) Mr. Shrub can keep saying what HE thinks is right and treat the lot of us like heretics, but soon more and more will know our innocence! (sad sigh) God Bless You, sweet friend, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Ford, thank you for sharing! May love and light always shine upon you! Love, Noah Eaton "You'll find something that's enough to keep you |

Hello ice, I took the time to inhale your poem and as promised here is my comment. I like the first stanza alot, it opens the poem well. The following stanzas deliver deep thought. I think the poem is Zen-proud. In thinking with the perception of things, I can say..... Even when I don't totally agree with what you say I love how you say it. :-) Some refer to Zen as a religion but I tend to think of it more as a philosophy, which is what I feel you delivered. Keep writing my friend and keep on keeping on! pictureme :-) |

Wow! I was uncertain if this poem would appeal to anyone, it seems that it does, its content/theme is odd, I know...but your replies show it has attracted interest..Thank you all so much, as individuals and as a group....all of your words are stored in my heart.. -------ice ><> |
