A half-dead cat Sprawled in the middle of the road Its back legs crushed Its fur all bloody And everyone just passes by A homeless man On the busy sidewalk of Broadway Avenue He begs for some spare change He is hungry and cold And everyone just passes by Our culture is numb No compassion for the unfortunate It is sad how materialistic Our society has become Money is power And it’s justifiable to neglect Anyone who is different No one takes time anymore To value the important things The things life is really about Helping others and caring About a poor, dying cat… About a cold, starving man…* There is not ONE person in this world that you cannot live without. |

Yes, I agree....the fast lane of life and life itself has created a numbed culture and society ... though there are still some who carry compassion...and care. Thanx, enjoyed the reflective write... |
