Listen!  Can you hear?

The sky speaks,
the earth weeps,
and the water rises.

I shout out, “No!”
but it doesn’t matter,
nothing matters.

We are matter

floating, sinking, dying,
father, brother, mother, son,
daughter, Peter at the gate,
and in a little while
a shorter line in wait
halts again the coming
of the hand of love.

Me, you, at the end
in separate loneliness
and no one will know
my name
when it doesn’t matter
and the water rises.

But I have a name,
Damnit! Hear my name,
call me now
before I cannot breathe
the air of loving you
because it hurts,
it hurts so much,
when the water rises!

And then it was no more,
I welcomed in the dawn,
midday soon to say hello
and tonight the night will find
an unmade bed and tussled hair
because …
it doesn’t matter.

Martie - It's just a bad time in the life and times of "Helen" but tomorrow, yes, tomorrow ... I'll make the bed again.  Thank you so much for your kindness.

Honeybunch, this flowed out so very well.  I have to believe it came straight from that beautiful heart of yours.  A very wise person told me once when I went through the "end of my heart as it was" that the experience was a preparation for a new kind of love...one we had never experienced and could never imagine....I am still waiting, but I do know there has been a change in me.  *hugs* .....jo

Hi, jo - yes, I think I've come to that conclusion myself.  Perhaps the whole of life is merely in preparation for something else and although I do think about it I'm sometimes not in a hurry to find out.  Sometimes the scales tip the other way when I hurt inside.
