At the crossover point between night and day,
in hues of blue and glittering gold,
the “type” of love sparkles and glows
but deep in the middle of a fiery heart
there burns the flame of denial
for the “substance” of love differs so much
when the world of today wakes up.

The “type” of love embedded, entrenched,
like fairy dust sprinkled in young and old
remains as a feature distinct and apparent
to the eyes of a soul each of us own.

The identifiable “substance” of love,
perceived as the likes of you, me, and them,
stays in one place, looks always the same,
and hasn’t yet learnt to walk over the bridge.

At the crossover point there’s a visible gap
to enable contraction and stress release
for sooner or later we must leave the known
whether in death or in this lifetime.

Down on the ground and dependant on need
some are pushed, led, or willingly go,
and return to the known with a speck of dust
to magically change the view they behold.

Before we cross over how can we discern
the beauty of “type” in a “substance” grown old
but I’ve traveled and seen, touched both views,
and when I’m awake and say, “I love you”,
I know why I say it only to you.

But the secret, of course, lies in our eyes,
sometimes they veer off to the side,
never collide in the same view,
and cannot hold hands till meeting again
at the last and final crossover point!

Thanks Mysteria and Martie!  Glad you enjoyed.  Sometimes we try to bury things but then the wind blows and the sand lifts up and we see before us again what has never really left us.

Then again some cross over early and leave behind others who search for ever more the crossroad from which to begin the journey again. Blinded by what might have been unable to see the path. Until........what? I don't know.

Thanks, tp and Seymour, for the read.

I hope the "until" part doesn't continue with the words ... "it's too late".

This is a fascinating poem, Honeybunch.  I am very intrigued by your viewpoint on this subject.  I have believed for sometime there is a love greater than what we humans have yet experienced just on the horizon.  Very well written poem.   .....jo

Thanks, jo.  There are so many changes taking place in the world today as well as in individuals.  Some are for the worse as is evidenced by the behaviour of many of our young today which can only lead to chaos.  Some are for the better in that a lot of people are waking up to the acknowledgement of love both human and "ethereal" - perhaps those are destined for a good life in the beyond where all we have is the mind.  Perhaps what we take with us there is the deciding factor although I also believe that we have to teach love, not only feel it ourselves, in order to benefit.

However, as clarification of the poem, I was inspired by a beautiful picture of a bridge and the crossing over was actually referring to being able to "see" into the soul - while alive, that is.  Going within as it were or into the unconscious realm.
