In Your Poetic Mind

0 posted 2004-06-21 10:56 AM

Black boxes of night
empty  each
from cold   unyielding eyes
pressed against    shadows
within-   absent-    slow bending
this, my skin of  river,
   stretching    stone -
rough      beneath  the unwilling soul

Whose hands you have held
straying  and wading through branches
of  unforgiving time -waiting to steal
any chance of happiness

pieces of memory
float  toward earth
trampled  under feet
never learning to stop

I invite you in, to soak  through  waters
of life-- given like a good poem to
fall soft from your lips
your stars falling ----black & light
with movement from crimson center
separating         air and water on thin lines

such     empty hands facing skyward -
do they too feel damp against
your shadow

Tomorrow, the world will begin again
the grass will turn implausible green

yet

even after the petals have fallen
we remember why love began
the original sin --

Trace the glimpse of dragonflies
skimming water --  with their wings --

here, where only stillness remains

I stay

greeneyes,
There is much to this.  I've got to step out now, but will have to read this again.  Thank you for posting this.  It may have some answers or at least questions for me.
Thanks again.

Exquisite write here Lauren...
Gawd this is SO beautiful!
Love ya pretty lady~

Something tugs at me, I've no doubt of that.
Something from the sea, whichever one I'm near.
When I stray too far from beachland, it calls me back

~ and yes, dear poetessa contessa, that is so often the reason for "The Insanity of Stay"...

Lauren,
===================================
such     empty hands facing skyward -
do they too feel damp against
your shadow
===================================
Always food for thought coming from your tender heart expressed in ways I never expect but always enjoy. Nicely done.

If tears could build a stairway and memories a lane, I'd walk right up to heaven and bring you home again.

Lauren, I just got goosebumps!  Awesome, awesome to be able to take the reader to the feel of the dragonfly skimming water!  Awesome!  Did I say awesome?  Yes, I did!
