It's Father's Day again,
I celebrate for naught,
Though my kids will celebrate,
My dad's but just a thought.

I miss that man most every day
My mother too is gone
They loved so much and supported me,
Whether right or wrong.

For those of you that have your dad,
Cherish him each day,
The days are long, the years are short,
Soon he'll go away....

Sir Toe,
Very well said and done. Miss mine immensely!

If tears could build a stairway and memories a lane, I'd walk right up to heaven and bring you home again.

Hear, hear.  I treasure every moment left with my father.  He is 84 and beginning to fade.  My heart sorrows.  But I'll keep every memory we make as a most precious gift.  Sorry you must miss yours.

Perfectly said, dear Toe!  Mine has been gone since 76 and I still miss him, but I guess I remember him more than miss him now.
Ys, cherish.  Thanks for the sweet poem.

P.S.  I've missed the three of you and your shannigans.

Toe, this is so true. I don't like to think
of when my parents will be gone. They're getting
on up in age, though, and I worry about it.
Happy Father's Day, Toe

How very true you words are Toe..
I miss my Dad terribly...Father's day or any day...
Time here on this earthly plane goes by in the blink of an eye.
Perhaps your post will act as a reminder to others.

Toe, may I join your chorus?

Sing the song once more with me,
those songs you loved so dear,
"You Are my Sunshine" fill my heart,
and it's your voice I hear...

Thank, you, Toe

Happy Father's Day!

Thanx Toe for the post.  I miss mine as
well.  It feels odd this year not having
him around to wish him a Happy Father's
Day...

This touched me deeply my dear friend, I know your sorrow and will shed a tear with you on fathers day.  This year fathers day falls on the 20th and my father will be gone for two years on the 21st.  It is still hard for myself and my family as he was only 52 when he went, I miss him dearly as he was my best friend.  Hold your head up and know they are enjoying fathers day in a beautiful place this year.

My favorite lines.  A stirring write that reminds how much I have to be thankful for this Sunday and all days.  Thanks for the reminder.

Yes....for so many years I didn't -- loved him like a son and took his advice, but didn't let him in where it really counts. The growing I've done since joining PIP had something to do with my finally reaching the point where I could, and I'm thankful every day that I did before it was too late.

No matter how old we are fortunate enough to grow ... we still need our "dads" ... and our "moms".  Thankyou for this Toe.  hugs, Chris

Thank you, Toe...
I know I needed this reminder.
In my house it's just my dad and me, but we basically stay on opposite sides of the house. We can discuss science and theology, but there isn't much there beyond that. Yeah, I needed the reminder. Again, thank you.
