I found a light-brown leaf
that had its edges folded inwards

On hindsight, I guess
most people would have
associated it with a quill
But I saw a sealed filter funnel
in my hands, a funnel
that had dark holes on its sides
A mockery of my life, it seemed,
as it signified my feeble attempts
to store-trap favorable memories

A wry smile to myself,
I congratulated myself
on my distinctive mind frame
that allowed me to see something
unapparent to other eyes

The silver lining of being melancholy

Ah my friend - haven't read you in ages, and this was definitely worth  the read.  Well done.  Last line caught me by surprise and that doesn't often happen.

Good write...
