At the corner market-stall
there are boxes big and tall
but what to pack in tissue wrap
what to throw away as scrap
and what to keep for seven years
or until the heartache clears?

Intermingled with my own
the perspective of a soul
turns the sane and practical
into the mystical
and I thought to go today
to pack my thoughts away
but I can’t remember, can’t define,
the entry/exit line -
who came before or after,
only now or a hereafter.

At the corner market-stall
there’s no box to hold it all
but a fire in the hold
of what a soul can know
then to laugh again the laughter
of the now and not hereafter
is all I want to keep
and the rest exchange for peace!

Thanks Martie, Ericc, and Susan, for the read.  I guess we're not meant to travel too light through life because that would make it all too easy and perhaps less appreciated.

One should always keep their packing light, and let the laughter lighten the soul.
