In New Zealand Amongst the Ancient Trees

Yes! I remember where two stood in a cave on the sand.
Beneath that awesome high vaulted ceiling made of stone,
And two bodies touched in a house not made by hand.

You rested on a rock ledge as I placed a shell in your hand,
Then closing your eyes leaned back on warm sandstone.
Yes! I remember where two stood in a cave on the sand.

We paddled at the waters edge and I held your hand
While the breeze made our hair windblown,
And two bodies touched in a house not made by hand.

At the far end of the beach we stared up at the headland,
In wonder at how wind and sea had shaped that stone.
Yes! I remember where two stood in a cave on the sand

We trod the farmland a thousand steps nothing planned,
But on the beach the gentle breeze was heard to moan
As two bodies touched in that house not made by hand

Those yet to come will remember two lovers hand in hand
For the names and date are still there carved in stone.
Yes! I remember where two stood in a cave on the sand
And two bodies touched in that house not made by hand.

It's sometimes good and sometimes bad to remember - today it's good!
