Pat-a-cake-, pat-a-cake, baker’s man, give me your hand and I’ll show you my land but, “No, said he, “there’s too much to do like pinning my butterflies up on the wall.” Pat-a-cake, pat-a-cake, baker’s man, you’re supposed to be baking not facing a wall and he said to me, “I believe I’m not me but still I’m attached to my wooden spoon.” Pat-a-cake, pat-a-cake, baker’s man, is the heat the reason you cannot be you and then he said, “No, I’m really quite cool, with my head in the oven and the rest protected.” Baker’s man, baker’s man, get out of the oven your head can’t rise and the rest will get lost but I just have to ask, what’s it all for, why’s your head in the oven at all? He paused and I waited and waited some more but then I thought, no, I’ll go to the store and find in the corner a book to tell all. And there it was in black and white print, “before you get in put your head in a tin to retain your own mastery.” You think he’d have known to cover his head but a baker’s man can … well, what can he do with his head in an oven and the rest protected? Baker’s man, baker’s man, give me your hand but a hand with no head … oh, where is my tin?? [This message has been edited by Honeybunch (06-14-2004 09:13 AM).] |

You're a wise lady, Martie, but everything passes and we soon get it all together again. In fact, it's done already. |
