In New Zealand Amongst the Ancient Trees

0 posted 2004-06-13 11:36 PM

I think I thought,
the crystal clear, but then it appeared liquid red.
Then shifting phase, green it bled.
And the Leprechaun said, “come prophet
rest your soul, join our picnic, sit
with us awhile, quaff a handle or three.
Its not your time but your time
will be the time of us all”.

But I blinked and found your hand
in mine as we stepped from
a crystal clear pool dripping wet.
Naked as the day we were born.
We dried our bodies with loves heat
On natures carpet, beneath
an ancient tree's feet.

Then I turned my head
and you weren't there.
I only felt a brush of warm air
as I descended the long stair
to breakfast with the Dali Lama.
Whose discourse lasted
for hours and hours.

Came old Tse wandering by
and whispered, in the High Lama's ear.
I could not hear the words
but they echoed in my head
his time will be the time of us all.

I think I thought,
I’ve heard that before.
When suddenly, friends, family,
and loved ones began stopping in.
I couldn't hear them, yet their conversations
were somewhere in my head.
I think I thought,
something's wrong I said “these people,
they are all supposed to be dead”.

But there was a rush of cold air
and I wasn't there, I was in bed
filled with utter dread, fearing
that perhaps it was I that was dead.
I think I thought,
I heard your tears falling only
you weren't there, yet the pillow was wet.
Whilst on the bedside table the crystal once red
then green, appeared to be clear again.

And I saw the fear
that was me, and no one was there.
Yet still words hung in the air
his time will be the time of us all.
That’s the last time I’ll go to the crystal ball.

"I think I thought" - yes, I can relate to that but eventually one has to come to the point of knowing although perhaps some things are better not known.  It's hard to say really.  A most interesting read!

I think I thought, no I mean I thought to think, or was it just a thought, or did I think . . . This was great fun to read, and kina' spooky.  By the way, hanging out with the Dalai Lama would be too cool -- what a fantastic man.
