When In His Shadow

I walk the morning path in sighs,
each breath trying to gather
what is left from the day before,
wishing for a bit of the missing pieces
to be found and fitted
to make me feel whole again.

I can taste the memories,
a desire of skin to skin,
lips to heal the parching
that these weeks have rendered dry.

I reflect on titles and on names and on words,
remembering the stiffness of our first meeting,
wishing truth had been more on my side.
Then, oh how then, maybe the "might haves"
would have happened sooner
and the "wish fors" might not now be needed.

It is lonely on this side of the fence,
and although the rains have finally stopped,
the mist is still present in my eyes,
as I wipe away the fears for the moment
and look towards the morning sunrise
as a sign for the day...

I am weak in your significance, yet in denial
of the strength of my convictions,
always wondering if the Tinman is watching
from his city window, looking out to see
if his heart is reaching out and I am
wandering the night softly smiling
when in his shadow.

Maureen, dear lady, you know of course, that "Oz never did give nothin' to the Tinman, that he didn't already have."
So....you have everything you need within yourself. Trust me.
This is going into my library by the way.
hugs, Chris

Lovely. But with a feeling of the slightest touch of sadness. The feeling like a breeze just barely touching your cheek drying a tear that threatens to fall.
Good Jobber
