A Wednesday Morning

A heavy day awaits.
I watch my words carefully
as they fall from lips too tired
to raise a smile.

Though the fog has lifted,
the mind plays tricks
making my tomorrows
seam my todays
with a tightness needing
the threads to be loosened,
allowing  the expansion of air
to be taken in and released in sighing effort.

I no longer feel what I once felt,
the non-encounters building walls
around the untouchable, numbness replacing.

My words build, regrets resting on jaded thoughts
and I become unmoved by this life
that has created such for me.
I am passing it by, submitting to nothing
except for that mirror on the wall,
reflecting a shattered innocence.

It is my war to be fought, a love song gone wrong,
a shooting star dying, so far away, and
a time whose end has come.

M

It will come to you, soon enough
the feelings...

but for now, I will hold you
through the numbness.

this is a feeling I know well, how things change?  A wonder I suppose, perhaps intentional?

Very profoundly written and expressed!
