In the Springtime of my life, I was supple and I could bend. I could round any corner, And stretch to rainbow's end. I would rush into everything, With a song and a prayer, For I was naive and I was innocent, And did not have a care. I knew I'd live forever, That no harm would come to me, For I was young and I was spirited, I was strong and I was free. I would reach for the furthest star, For I knew that it was mine, I would reach into eternity, Unaware of passing time. I was brash and I was beautiful, I was brave and I was bold. I was blind to all the changes, As I was growing old. One day it finally struck me, That time was not my friend, No longer could I bend or stretch, Or reach a rainbow's end. But somewhere deep inside of me, I knew that was not true, For through the years I'd gained a friend, ~ It was the me of you. As I gazed in to the mirror, I forthwith came to know, That reflections of the inner me, Will forever bloom and grow. [This message has been edited by Earth Angel (06-08-2004 08:53 AM).] |

One day it finally struck me, That time was not my friend, No longer could I bend or stretch, Or reach a rainbow's end. But somewhere deep inside of me, I knew that was untrue, For through the years I'd gained a friend, ~ It was the me of you. Truly beautiful, Linda. Sometimes, when I don't feel so "beautiful," I come to this forum, read words of my wonderful internet friends here, and I find the me of you. Then I feel pretty again. This is such a wonderful place with incredible people. Thank you for your outstanding poem. Definitely a keeper! |

Well I'm definitely happy to see I'm not alone in the world because you've described me to a tee! We never see ourselves that way though do we - except when it hurts, of course, and we wonder why.
